Mid-Penn Colonial Division - Week 5 Round Up

High School Football Linemen

The Wizard of Oddz breaks down the Week 5 High School Football results for the Mid-Penn Colonial Conference, as well as providing links to related articles and statistics.

The Wizard incorrectly picked a game for the first time in 3 weeks when Mifflin County beat Greencastle. This was likely due to the previous strength of schedule for Mifflin County in its non-conference games as well as prior year games. This would have artificially lowered Mifflin County's power ranking.

Northern York 0 - Waynesboro 13 - Chalk this low score up to the ugly weather. Both teams combined for 2-19 in the passing game, with Waynesboro not completing a single pass on the night. However, Brady Beckner's 14 rushes for 142 yards was the difference in this one as Waynesboro was able to score 2 early touchdowns and play a game possession the remainder of the night.

Shippensburg 66 - James Buchanan 0 - So far in the short history of The Wizard of Oddz, this game had the highest odds of victory for a team with The Wizard giving Shippensburg a 94% chance of victory. Shippensburg held up their end of the bargain in this one, holding James Buchanan to under 100 yards of offense, while spreading the wealth by having 7 different players score touchdowns.

Mifflin County 36 - Greencastle 17 - Its not all about the stat line. Both Mifflin County and Greencastle had near identical statistics - ~60 yards passing, just north of 200 yards rushing, 1 interception and 1 fumble lost. However, the only stat that matters in the end is how many points you can put on the board, and in that aspect Mifflin County pulled away in the second half, putting together their first winning streak in a long, long time.

West Perry 22 - Big Spring 31 - This was a battle of a West Perry passing attack vs a Big Spring running attack. For Big Spring, QB Jaret Petty finished with 207 yards running on 7 carries and 0 yards passing on 6 attempts (can you be considered a dual threat quarterback in a game where you have 0 yards passing?). In addition teammate Ryan Adams also squeaked above 100 yards rushing at 109 yards on 10 attempts. However, West Perry did not go down without a fight with Dominic Salinetro completing 20 passes for 199 yards with 14 of those completions and 172 of the yards going to Cameron May.

The Wizard of Oddz Results - The Wizard went 3 - 1 on the week raising his total record to 27-5 on the season in predicting games.
