Mid-Penn Colonial Division - District 3 Playoffs Week 1 - Round Up

The Wizard of Oddz breaks down the First Week of the District 3 playoff results for the Mid-Penn Colonial Conference, as well as providing links to related articles and statistics.
Northern York 17 - Shippensburg 28 - The Polar Bears Curtis Robinson put up 213 on 22 rushing attempts and 1 TD, and as a team Norther York out rushed Shippensburg 272 to 105. However, turnovers were the difference maker in this one - Northern York had 5 fumbles on the night including 3 fumbles lost, all of which were in the red zone. This lead to 3 potential scoring opportunities squandered. Even if the Polar Bears were not able to convert those chances into TDs, they have a strong enough kicking game to expect 3 points from that range.
On the other side of the ball, Shippensburg's stars may not have had the best of nights, but they had solid, turnover free nights, which was enough to move the Greyhounds on to the next round of the playoffs. VanScyoc was 9-17 passing for 160 with 2 TDs and Adam Houser went just over the century mark rushing on 23 carries and also added 2 TDs.
The #2 Greyhounds (10-1) will face #3 Bishop McDevitt (7-4) next Friday November 18th at 7PM at Memorial Park in Shippensburg. The winner will face the winner of #5 Lampeter-Strasburg (7-4) and #1 Berks Catholic (10-1) for the District 3 title.
Waynesboro 14 - Governor Mifflin 41 - Governor Mifflin has had a plan all season and they stuck to it last night, run Ruoss up the middle, run him up the middle, run him up the middle and when you get bored gaining 6 yards a play sprinkle in a pass or QB option. They followed that plan to a T with Ruoss rushing for 140 yards on 22 carries and 2 TDs with another TD receiving. QB Austin Baker ran for another 54 and 1 TD, while QB Kamron Wolfe was 6-9 passing for 159 and 3 TDs.
The Mustangs' defense was just as strong, stopping the Indians playmakers in their tracks. Brady Beckner was held to 23 yards on 12 carries and Brady Riddell had a 39% completion record with 1 TD and 3 INTs on the night. Forrest Rhyne did manage 48 yards on 8 carries with 1 TD, but Rhyne would have needed to get plenty more carries to have made a difference in this one.
The Wizard of Oddz Results - The Wizard went 2 - 0 on the week raising his total record to 46-8 on the season in predicting games.
